Magnet Communications currently conducts four independent and annual research surveys; Magnet Student Survey,Magnet First-Year Survey, Magnet Professionals’ Survey and Magnet MBA Survey.
These research tools have been designed in such a way that comparisons can be drawn between the findings of the surveys conducted within a specific year and also between years. Most importantly, we are able to track trends and make comparisons between South African student samples from the time that they enroll at university, all the way through to graduation and into their professional working lives. |
Magnet Student Survey The Magnet Student Survey is conducted primarily amongst university students in their second or final year of study. Respondents indicate their expected date of graduation and current level of education, allowing the research to be filtered by year of study and intended qualification. In this way we can identify changes in career mindsets while studying, from their first year through to graduation. Beyond this, we also gather information about topics such as career goals, salary expectations and IDEAL™ Employers. |
Magnet Professionals’ Survey The Magnet Professionals’ Survey is conducted in collaboration with a large number of highly regarded professional bodies and alumni associations. The professionals who belong to these organisations are requested to indicate how many years’ work experience they have, which allows us to make a distinction between younger and more senior professionals. Professionals are also asked to specify which tertiary educational institution they attended, which allows us to compare alumni of specific institutions with the current students from that same institution (from the Magnet Student Survey). As with the Student Survey we also gather information about their career goals, salary expectations and IDEAL™ Employers. Magnet MBA Survey The Magnet MBA Survey is conducted amongst MBA students at a select group of top business schools that are highly regarded academically and respected in business circles. The survey encourages students to think proactively about their personal and career goals whilst giving respondents the unique opportunity to voice their opinions about what they want from their working life and their future employers.
